Running possible again?
Maybe its just my luck, but my dervish has been randomly exploring parts of elona and getting access to them right away. I would eventually continue the game story, and come to find the place I already unlocked accidentally has a mission in it now. I have also noticed the new way armourer's and weaponsmiths are introduced into the game (must complete quests).
Has Anet allowed running, but added a feature that if you want something specific you have to work for it? (15k armour for instance) I am trully hoping that my theory is correct and that this is the basis the new system was designed around, because I think this would certainly be a wonderful thing for people who don't want to go through the unneccesary story to get 15k armour, or get to a skill cap location.

For the most part, the formula is that each land 'region' is fully explorable once you reach it. The catch is that you must complete the main quest for that region in order to advance to the next. Running could make a comeback, but there would be no way to skip forward in the main quest.

i tried 'running' through the game with my ranger because i didnt feel like doin all the quests and missions and stuff and i've found out the furthest you can go is Rilohn Refuge. And once you get there you cant even go on cause u need the mission to get to the next area. I even tried joining a group who had the mish but when they talked to the mission starter, she said that i couldnt go.
I also tried to get to Chantry of Secrets by running through Fortress of Jahai (which i think is only of way of running there) but the door at the top of the fortress was closed. And lastly i ran to Gates of Desolation but you cant go to far outside or you'll die due to environmental condidtions (no human can survive the sulfurous wastes, or sumthin like that). So i think you can really run that far into the game.
If someone knows if the door at the top of the Fortress of Jahai becomes open later thorugh quests or sumthin then running further might be possible. Please let me know.

The door at the fortress never opens. There is no little zone symbol on the map there, so I'm assuming it's not something I just haven't achieved yet.

If so, I like this idea, although it's not very useful. Since you have to do the quests in order to use the armorsmith, you're still backtracking and starting at square one, so I don't see the point in this, although runners could make some cash.

the thing is you can't get to the mainland until you do the mission to get there. And you can only skip to that if you start in somewhere like tyria, get run to LA, powereleved through the quest to get to Nightfall then you could get run through that mission too and there you go.
